I am seeking information on Hapan and Lucy Saul. I need to know if there is baptismals or probate documents that may show their english name for Hapan.

bobdu: As I recall you wrote me some time back saying that you had gone to Winnebago and looked for probate records on the Sauls, etc. Hapan is the name given to the second born- if a daughter.

i could not find what i was looking for down at bago but there is the chance that she had a last name (english or indian name that could match up to someone on the 1886 baseroll. I see that there are a lot of Hapan's and Hepans on the list, more than ever they do not have another name listed.

bobdu: that is all well and good, except that Lucy Saul was born in 1867, and not in Minnesota. The name Hapan is a common nonspecific name given to the second born if a girl.

bobdu, If I am thinking about the same Lucy Saul, she had a son named John (Saul) Sully. Are you possibly connected directly through him?

Samuel Young's parents are:
John Brigham Young (Okdewicaki), born: 1878, died: 04-1913, Yankton Sioux, lived in Charles Mix Co. SD.

My understadning is that Mary Tasinatopawin was one of the wives of Rev. George Paypay. In 1885,Mary was 35 years old, according to the 1885 Census. George was married at least 5-6 times, and Mary was the next to the last wife he had.
